Sheffield law firm Wake Smith & Tofields is defying the current economic climate after completing seven corporate transactions worth in excess of £17 million pounds in the last three weeks.
Wake Smith & Tofields company commercial team has handled several multi-million pound deals including the sale of the entire issued share capital of Rotherham-based company, Lowe Group (Holdings) Limited to Connaught plc for a cash consideration of £7.5 million.
Other deals include Sheffield-based Special Steel Co. Limited, one of the country's largest independent heat treatment companies, which has acquired the forging business previously carried out by Langley Forged Products Limited, by way of the acquisition of the entire issued share capital of Hillfoot Forge Limited from the Edinburgh-based Murray Metals Group.
The team have overseen the launch of a new international joint venture between Sheffield-based Johnson & Allen Limited and Vibrant Corporation of the USA for the development and provision of Process Compensated Resonance Testing (PCRT) services and equipment to the United Kingdom. The new company, Vibrant NDT Ltd, is based at Sheffield University's Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre. The joint venture will see PRCT technology commercialised for use in aerospace and power generation industries.
David Ware, Partner and head of the company commercial team said: "Despite news reports that the market is struggling, the team has been inundated with work from new and existing clients. The range of industry sectors we have been involved in and the complexity of the deals we have been handling in such a short space of time reflect the significant strength and experience of the team."
Over the past twelve months Wake Smith & Tofields has acted for clients in deals with a total value of over £100 million.
