Commercial property solicitors at Wake Smith have completed a pro bono project which has seen the opening of the first charity shop run by Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity.
Commercial Property Partner Neil Salter and his team provided free legal services for the new charity shop now open in Crookes.
Rachel Thorpe, Director of the Cancer Charity said: "The new shop in Crookes is first to be run by the Charity itself. It is terribly important to us as a means of raising vital funds for Weston Park Hospital and also to give us a 'high street presence'. It would have been incredibly difficult for us to open the shop without the generosity and support of Neil Salter and his colleagues at Wake Smith & Tofields.
"We have been overwhelmed by the support we have received from the community and from local businesses; people have helped us in so many ways and we have some fabulous stock in the shop.
Neil Salter said: "We were only too happy to support the opening of the Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity shop and I am delighted to see the project come to fruition. Months of hard work from a large group of people has gone into seeing the shop open and to such a response."
The opening of the new shop was overseen by Janet Holden, an employee of John Lewis Partnership (JLP), Sheffield. Janet is working on secondment from JLP for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity.
There are currently two other charity shops in Sheffield raising funds for Weston Park Hospital, both run by volunteers, in Shirecliffe and in Rawmarsh.
