Wake Smith has launched a specialist healthcare team to provide expert guidance to those working in the healthcare industry in Yorkshire.
Pressures to make cost efficiencies amidst increasing Government budgetary restraints and changes to the structure and regulation of healthcare businesses in the region, has led to the formal creation of the group who have over 30 years experience in advising clients operating privately and in the NHS.
The newly formed healthcare team offer tailored advice to doctors, dentists, opticians, care home staff, and senior management working across the healthcare industry.
Legal experts from across the firm, including representatives from the Company Commercial, Litigation, Employment and Commercial Property departments, offer advice on the current legal issues, including the complexities surrounding the sale and purchase of practices and health care companies.
The new division will be led by David Ware and Michelle Hayward, both partners in the Company Commercial team, dealing with a broad range of clients based locally and nationally.
Partner David Ware said: "Recent announcements from the Conservatives would suggest that the NHS will not be directly affected by budget cuts, but the pressure to make 'efficiencies' is still a concern for the healthcare industry particularly for those funded by the NHS.
"Coupled with existing budgetary constraints, the healthcare industry is facing pressures with the reality of an ageing population and the possibility of an increased age of retirement.
"The healthcare industry is changing and the team at Wake Smith hopes to help people in the region get to grips with the latest legal regulations as well as evolving regulations from the relevant industry bodies."
The team provides clients with out of hours emergency response cover for legal emergencies if they require it.
