A leading UK 'eTailer' of car-parts has taken a 31,000 sq ft base at Barnsley's Goldthorpe Power Park as its first mainland site.
MicksGarage.com, which was founded in Ireland in 2004 and now supplies 5.6m product listings to more than 120 countries, has chosen Unit 2 at Goldthorpe Power Park as its first distribution centre in England, complementing its operations in Dublin and Krakow, Poland.
Wake Smith Solicitors undertook the legal work for MicksGarage.com and the Barnsley unit is seen as a key expansion move for the company, which has taken a five-year letting, in conjunction with the Sheffield office of Knight Frank acting on behalf of m-seven.
Paul Gibbon, director at Wake Smith Solicitors, said: “The fact that one of the UK's largest consumer-led car parts eTailers has chosen South Yorkshire as its UK mainland base is a huge coup for the region and recognises the exceptional transport links and strategic value of this area to the logistics industry.”
Unit 2 at Goldthorpe Power Park is a modern, single-storey warehousing building with six ground-level access loading doors, located on the A635 Dearne Valley Parkway close to the M1, junction 36 and the A1(M) at junction 37.
Ciaran Crean, chief executive at MicksGarage.com, said: “The UK is our primary market, despite our strong overseas trade, and when we were looking for a strategically positioned mainland unit, South Yorkshire quickly became the best option.
“We see the Goldthorpe unit as a crucial milestone for the company, ten years after we took our first warehouse, and key to our expansion.”
MicksGarage.com sells a wide range of car parts, motoring and leisure accessories to consumers for next day delivery via its highly successful online portal, winning a Gold Entrepreneurial Award at the 2015 Global eCommerce Summit in Barcelona.
