Wake Smith has helped an experienced hairdresser achieve his dream to open a new salon in Sheffield.
Chris Wild, from Worrall, began working in the hairdressing industry at the age of 14 and now has more than 18 years of experience under his belt.
After years of being self-employed and renting chairs in other city salons, he decided to take the plunge and launch his very own hair business, The Wild Colour, on Snig Hill in Sheffield.
Wake Smith Solicitors acted for Chris on the lease of the building, which was a former apartments’ reception.
Chris, a certified colourist, said the coronavirus pandemic had made him take the plunge and realise his dream of opening a salon in the city centre.
He said: "There has been so much negativity around coronavirus across the world, including in Sheffield. I wanted positivity in my life, and for Sheffield.
“Sheffield should be vibrant and colourful and full of positivity. There have been so many negative announcements recently, I wanted to bring a positive boost to the city. I have always wanted to do this. I know it is a risk but this was meant to be.
“I looked at several different sites but I was attracted to the city centre. This is a well known location and easy for clients to access.”
Chris, who has competed in national hairdressing competitions, has completed a £30,000 refurbishment programme on the building and already lined up fellow hairdressers for his seven station salon.
It will have neon coloured theme and will occupy two floors of the building in the city’s legal quarter.
He said: "I have worked hard for my own salon. I just want it to be really open to everyone whatever age, race or gender and have a positive vibe, with lots going on. I am a flamboyant person and the salon will reflect that, with a professional and chilled feel. My focus is solely on hairdressing, including colour.
“The whole industry has been looking forward to returning to work and concentrating on how clients will can stay safe as the lockdown restrictions ease.”
Chris added: “Laura Sanderson at Wake Smith was amazing. She did everything on point and to deadline. She was really on the ball and I was so impressed with her organisation. Laura was great at her job.”
Laura Sanderson, associate at Wake Smith added: “We were delighted to be involved in such an exciting project for Chris and wish him all the best with his new venture.”
