The company, which hosts a broad events programme each year, started the triannual initiative back in 1990 as a way of allowing business leaders and decision makers the chance to meet over a bite to eat in less formal surroundings than other networking events.
It has been hosted at various venues across the city but every Christmas returns to Sheffield City Hall for its annual festive gathering which this year attracted more than 100 guests for lunch.
And to help mark the occasion, guests raised more than £1,600 for Wake Smith’s chosen charity Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, which recently announced the reopening of its clinical services operations.
John Baddeley, director at Wake Smith, said: "The lunch club is an important part of our events programme attracting a wide range of clients both existing and potential including banks, accountants and business leaders. 30 Years on, with a break for the pandemic, we still invite a large number of guests every year and the attendance shows no signs of waning."
Steve Knight, a champion fundraiser for Bluebell Wood, gave a very moving and powerful talk about his experience and the outstanding care his daughter Emma received from the hospice. His emotional story prompted a very generous donation from our guests.”
